Job description
Organization : CHISOM ( Children Support Organization Mpigi ).
Duration : 3 months up to a year.
Project : Starting up vocational training linked to secondary school in Mpigi Town Council at Kibuuka secondary.
Duty Station : Mpigi Town Council.
Chisom is an Ugandan Community Based Organization based in Mpigi Town Council ( 40 kms from Kampala ). Since 1994 they are involved in making primary education available for OVC’s ( Orphaned and Vulnarable Children ) through paying school fees, provision of scolastic materials and serving a nutritious lunch every day. At the moment about 350 children and their guardian families profit from this project.
After finishing primary it is difficult to continue at secondary or even continue on further education. The lack of income for the families is most of the times the reason why the OVC’s are not able to continue with their education. Even after finishing secondary it is difficult to find jobs that will make them able to generate any income to support for themselves.
CHISOM started some time ago plans to establish a vocational training centre in Mpigi Town Council. At the moment proposals are being sent to several organizations, meetings with different stakeholders have been arranged, and the overall project plan is completed.
CHISOM is looking for a person who will run the project.
Tasks :
- continue networking and to identify more possible stakeholders for the project.
- To organize meetings with stakeholders, guardians, children and so on.
- To have an overview at the finalization of the classrooms of the vocational training.
- To sign a memorandum of understanding with the secondary school of Kibuuka in Mpigi Town Council. Strenghtening the cooperation with the secondary school.
- To raise more fundings that will sustain the project.
- Idenfication of subjects and so the curriculum.
- Reporting to the board of CHISOM and others involved.
- Work out financial details of the project.
Qualificatons
- Fluent in english.
- Experience in community work.
- Excellent in communication and networking skills.
- Proven commitment to the issue of AIDS orphans.
- Open minded, flexible, teamworker, dedicated.
Conditions
- Work on a voluntary basis with full support of the board of CHISOM, additional housing can be arranged but is for own cost.
- CHISOM office in Mpigi town is available with computer and access to the internet.
