Job description

Organization : CHISOM ( Children Support Organization Mpigi ).

Duration : 3 months up to a year.

Project : Starting up vocational training linked to secondary school in Mpigi Town Council at Kibuuka secondary.

Duty Station : Mpigi Town Council.

Chisom is an Ugandan Community Based Organization based in Mpigi Town Council ( 40 kms from Kampala ). Since 1994 they are involved in making primary education available for OVC’s ( Orphaned and Vulnarable Children ) through paying school fees, provision of scolastic materials and serving a nutritious lunch every day. At the moment about 350 children and their guardian families profit from this project.

After finishing primary it is difficult to continue at secondary or even continue on further education. The lack of income for the families is most of the times the reason why the OVC’s are not able to continue with their education. Even after finishing secondary it is difficult to find jobs that will make them able to generate any income to support for themselves.

CHISOM started some time ago plans to establish a vocational training centre in Mpigi Town Council. At the moment proposals are being sent to several organizations, meetings with different stakeholders have been arranged, and the overall project plan is completed.

CHISOM is looking for a person who will run the project.

Tasks :

- continue networking and to identify more possible stakeholders for the project.

- To organize meetings with stakeholders, guardians, children and so on.

- To have an overview at the finalization of the classrooms of the vocational training.

- To sign a memorandum of understanding with the secondary school of Kibuuka in Mpigi Town Council. Strenghtening the cooperation with the secondary school.

- To raise more fundings that will sustain the project.

- Idenfication of subjects and so the curriculum.

- Reporting to the board of CHISOM and others involved.

- Work out financial details of the project.

Qualificatons

- Fluent in english.

- Experience in community work.

- Excellent in communication and networking skills.

- Proven commitment to the issue of AIDS orphans.

- Open minded, flexible, teamworker, dedicated.

Conditions

- Work on a voluntary basis with full support of the board of CHISOM, additional housing can be arranged but is for own cost.

- CHISOM office in Mpigi town is available with computer and access to the internet.

Midden 2010 komt ingenieursburo Interra uit Joure met een team naar Oeganda om bij Jjaja Bbanga Primary School een bio-gas installatie te bouwen! Deze installatie zal als model gaan dienen en moet er voor zorgen dat bio-gas op grote schaal toegepast gaat worden in Oeganda, met name in de rurale gebieden. Volg onze site voor de ontwikkelingen.

Klaas Castelein, de huidige voorzitter van Stichting International Contact Uganda (ICU) heeft een baan gevonden in Oeganda. Op 15 augusutus is hij vertrokken naar Oeganda. Dit houdt in dat hij niet langer de rol van voorzitter op zich kan nemen.  Maarten van der Deijl is de nieuwe voorzitter van de Stichting. U kunt contact opnemen met hem via maarten@icuganda.org. Onlangs verbleven 21 medewerkers van Schoutenbouw BV uit Leidschendam in Ngoma om mee te helpen met de bouw van een nieuw schoolgebouw. De Jjaja Bbanga Primary School (JBPS), de basisschool die International Contact Uganda (ICU) in deze arme plattelandsstreek heeft opgericht, is namelijk dringend aan uitbreiding toe!

Vandaag is de nieuwe website van ICU gelanceerd. De Stichting ICU zal vanaf nu haar nieuwsberichten publiceren via het Blog. Algemene informatie staat op de nieuwe site.

De portal van de website die je brengt naar de verschillende onderdelen: Stichting ICU, Service Centre ICU en het ICU Guesthouse was al eerder vernieuwd. Je komt altijd op de portal terecht door in je browser te serven naar www.icuganda.org: the home of ICU!

Zoals op de portal te zien is wordt nog gewerkt aan het onderdeel ICU Grassroots. Grassroots zal unieke reizen en trips in Oeganda organiseren die via een normaal reisbureau bijna niet te boeken zijn voor goepen en individuen. Voor inlichtingen: mail naar sander@icuganda.org

De nieuwe site heeft als doel om beter bereikbaar te zijn voor de leden van ICU. Het Blog, de foto en de video pagina zijn voor alle leden te bewerken Wij kunnen u vanaf nu dus sneller via het internet van informatie voorzien.

De ‘oude’ website waar u tot voor kort naar keek is daarmee benoemd tot de ‘oude website’ van ICU en zal als archief voorlopig beschikbaar blijven via een link op de pagina ‘Nieuws’.

Wij denken met de nieuwe site u een heldere blik op onze werkzaamheden te kunnen werpen.

Our major aim was to improve the accessibility for every member to the website. This blog www.icuganda.org/blog can be updated from anywhere in the world. This makes it easy for us to keep you up-to-date with our activities.

As you probably know, ICU has set up its Service Centre servicecentre.icuganda.org. Today ICU has its own Guesthouse in Kampala (Uganda).  Easy to find on the web via guesthouse.icuganda.org.

Another product that ICU works on is GrassRoots on grassroots.icuganda.org. GrassRoots helps you to undertake activities in Uganda which are hard to arrange as an outsider. How about spending a week in a local village with a local family? Or a visit to one of the projects that ICU or a partner organisation works on throughout Uganda?

At last: pictures and video’s are now much more easy for us to transfer to the internet and so much more easy for you to acces. We promise you more updates and footage in the future!
